If tennis is your game, you’ll find plenty of options in the Fort Myers area. From beginning lessons to courts for the pros, there are several available locations living in the region. The Naples-Fort Myers Tennis Challenge is now in it’s 36th year, an opportunity for Lee County players to take on Collier County players in the yearly border contest. Meanwhile, some of the areas top pros from community tennis courts square off in the Pro League. Regular season matches are held at clubs all over the region. The league added an all-women’s weekly court in 2015. There are also men’s courts and mixed doubles. Matches are held at such locations as Lexington Country Club, Fiddlesticks Country Club, Heritage Palms and The Landings Yacht, Golf & Tennis Club. As well, there are also numerous options when it comes to public parks in Lee County. The Hancock Park Tennis Center offers up programs starting at age three, plus there’s room for competitive groups too. Meanwhile, there are also options like the Rutenberg Park Tennis Center, the Manzo Tennis Center at Three Oaks Park in the south and Veterans Park Tennis Center in the east. While you don’t have to be a pro yet, the parks provide the opportunity to work on your skills in a fun environment. Meanwhile, residents may also choose to become members of such locations as Gateway Golf & Country Club, where the Gateway Tennis Center offers programs for all abilities and ages. The center boasts six lighted clay courts plus a pro-shop. Private lessons, small group lessons and clinics are all available at this location. With dozens of options to choose from it’s simple to get in a game of tennis in Fort Myers, whether you’re seeking a private club, a public park-like setting or in search of a league to call your own.
