Venerable McGregor Isles Offers Spectacular Water Views

A staple in South Fort Myers for decades, venerable McGregor Isles is just as desirable today as it was generations ago. This spectacular waterfront community is known for its water views, its beautiful homes, and its convenient location.

Many homes in the community sit on canals with backyard docks, making it easy to access the Caloosahatchee River and eventually reach the Gulf. The deep-water canals are definitely part of the appeal of living in the community, as boats and sailboats of up to around 40-feet are welcome in McGregor Isles.

Development of homes in the community first began in the late 1960s, and spanned a couple of decades. While you’ll still find homes that date back to the early days of McGregor Isles and have been nicely updated over the years, other homes in the community are new construction and come in a variety of styles.

With around 150 total homes to choose from, most homes tend to offer three- to four-bedrooms and up to three-baths. While there are some homes off the water that are priced starting under $500,000 in the community, there are also some waterfront homes in McGregor Isles that top $2 million.

Some of these homes come with private swimming pools and outdoor kitchens. You will also likely find plenty of upscale features and finishes inside, ranging from updated kitchens and baths with granite countertops to upscale flooring and cabinetry.

Membership in the homeowner’s association in McGregor Isles is voluntary. The HOA takes care of neighborhood improvement projects, some lawn maintenance and it funds special events.

The homes of McGregor Isles sit just off McGregor Boulevard and close to College Parkway. The west side of the community is bordered by the Caloosahatchee River. The location is also close to the former winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford.
