Stretching from north to south across Fort Myers, the allure of the Winkler Road Corridor is one that’s hard to surpass. Ideal for families, you’ll sure to find some of the best residential communities up and down the roadway.

While the northern end of Winkler Road tends to consist of more established communities, you’ll find some newer communities springing up along its southern side. This opens up the possibility of a number of different home designs, with more affordable residences priced under $200,000, or custom estates topping $1 million.

Particularly enticing right now are some of the communities off the Winkler Extension. Running south of Summerlin Road, residents in this part of the area are treated to a fantastic location and some impressive home designs.

One such community just off Winkler Road Extension in South Fort Myers is Belle Meade. This gated community consists of custom-built, single-family homes on large, one- to two-acre lots. Mostly developed in the mid 1990s through mid 2000s, the neighborhood boasts low HOA fees and sits close to a number of family-friendly shops, restaurants and local beaches.

Another popular choice for families in South Fort Myers is StoneBridge. Also off the Winkler Road Extension, this non-gated community consists of single-family homes in a variety of styles. Mostly built up from the late 1990s through the 2000s, the homes of StoneBridge often come in three- to four-bedroom layouts, typically including 1,800 to 3,600 square feet of living space. The neighborhood also sits close to a number of restaurants, shops and area beaches, plus it boasts extremely low HOA fees.

Yet another neighborhood to consider along the Winkler Road Corridor is Crown Colony. This luxury community is home to more than 500 residences, including single and multi-family homes. The high-end community is also home to an 18-hole golf course and clubhouse, bringing a wealth of options to residents and making it a great community for families.
