Redfish Pass: Natural Beauty At The Tip Of Captiva

Redfish Pass is one of the most popular fishing spots in the Lee County boating area, and connects Pine Island Sound with the Gulf of Mexico. It separates Captiva on the south from North Captiva on the north. On the south side of the pass is the world-class resort called South Seas Plantation. On the north Gulf-facing side are some of the areas finest beaches.  Redfish Pass is a world-renowned popular sports fishing destination in Southwest Florida. As a doorway to the Gulf of Mexico, the Pass was created by the hurricane of 1921 which divided the once whole Captiva Island and was named after the many redfish caught in its channel. North Captiva is a quiet and peaceful tropical retreat accessed by boat only or small airplane. There are private charters and a ferry to take you there; no cars or paved roads exist on the island….just enjoy being ensconced in its authentic natural beauty . Visitors get around by electric golf cart, bicycle or walking. Its quiet secluded white sand beaches are a top spot for seashells, seabirds, manatees, tortoises and game fish. Fishing charters and boat trips to Boca Grande are available, as well as a romantic sunset boat ride.  North Captiva is all about relaxing, adventure, and water activities. Highlights include a swimming pool, kayaks, paddleboats, and wave runner rentals. Fine dining can be found at the Club Boathouse on the island; casual dining at Mango’s next door. For folks lucky enough to call this home, there is Land’s End Village, a condo community located at the north end of the South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island. Land’s End Village delivers panoramic view from its residences of Redfish Pass, Pine Island Sound and the golf course.
