The world’s first solar powered town moves one step closer to completion as Pulte makes plans to build its first spec homes at Babcock Ranch. It’s the beginning of a major undertaking for the homebuilder, with plans of eventually constructing hundreds of homes there.

The first spec home is going up in the Lake Timber neighborhood, with plans to make it an unfurnished home in the ‘Arbordale’ design. This three-bedroom, two-bath home will provide around 1,900 square feet of living space, and is considered one of the company’s most popular floor plans. With the ‘Arbordale’, the garage is located in the back of the home, meaning the front of the home is ideal for a larger front porch, just one design principle that sets many Babcock Ranch homes apart from others in the area.

The Lake Timber neighborhood also focuses on lake views. Eventually, Pulte is looking at making about 10-15 percent of its homes in the community spec homes.  As for Lake Timber, plans call for an initial four different floor plans to be constructed, all ranging from around 1,700 to 3,200 square feet in size, with one- and two-story designs.

Meanwhile, the Parkside neighborhood is set to also introduce a number of floor plans from Pulte, with homes there ranging from 1,600 to 3,200 square feet in size. The designated builder for Parkside, Pulte currently boasts more than 130 lots in that neighborhood, alone.

Work on the Parkside neighborhood should begin early next year, while the first move-in ready spec home from Pulte in Lake Timber is expected to be ready by this coming spring, as crews hope to break ground on the home next month. Pulte is one of a select number of builders offering homes within Babcock Ranch. When finished, the entire development is expected to contain around 20,000 homes.
