Pelican Landing Beach Renourished

The posh Bonita Springs gated-community of Pelican Landing has a new beach.  The Pelican Landing Community Association this week unveiled its new beach renourishment that follows past beach erosion in the area.  Pelican Landing is the only gated-community in Southwest Florida to have 35 acres of private beach. After 5 years of beach renourishment permits and state and federal delays, Pelican Landing revealed its new stretch of sandy beach that adds natural beauty to this all ready premier community.  The 34-acre Big Hickory Island Beach, which is north of Little Hickory Island and south of Lovers Key Park, was replenished with 105,000 cubic yards of sand and 7 concrete panels to stop future beach erosion.  Sand started being dredged from an offshore shoal off New Pass in July. Pelican Landing is a 3,100-home gated-community that owns Big Hickory Island, and the Hyatt Regency of Coconut Point shared the $3 million cost for the beach project to add sand after erosion started impacting the stretch of beach in front of these dwellings.  Project leaders hope Pelican Landing’s new private beach with more than 2,000 yards of shoreline will inspire more prospective buyers to buy Pelican Landing homes or to stay at the Hyatt.  The beach amenity will be attractive to guests at the Hyatt to have access to the water.  This also brings value to Pelican Landing residents, who all ready enjoy a lifestyle of a premier golfing community in a pristine natural setting.
