Ocean Harbor: On Top of the Beach

Built up on top of the beach, Ocean Harbor enjoys a desirable address with sweeping views of much of Estero Island. The twin towers of Ocean Harbor were developed in the early 1990s on Fort Myers Beach, originally at the helm of German investors.

In the beginning, they marketed the new, mid-island condos to fellow Germans interested in spending the cold winter months in sunny Florida. Later on, an American firm completed construction of Ocean Harbor in two phases.

On one side of the complex sits the beach, right across Estero Boulevard. On the other side is Estero Bay. The 16-story, twin towers are some of the tallest on Fort Myers Beach.

Because of the location and the height of the buildings, the gated, condo development offers up stunning views of both the Gulf of Mexico and the bay. Each tower contains 75 condos, which typically range from around 1,700 square feet of space to 2,400 square feet of space.

There were three original floor plans in Ocean Harbor, although many of the units have been recently completely remodeled. This means it’s not uncommon to find updated kitchens with custom cabinetry and stainless-steel appliances, as well as updated baths.

Recently listed units in the building all feature two-bedrooms and two-baths, as well as up to two parking spaces. In terms of shared amenities, the gated property includes a junior Olympic sized swimming pool, pickleball courts, championship tennis courts, and two hot tubs.

There is also a clubhouse with a fitness room on the property, plus you’ll find dozens of nearby boats slips tied to the Ocean Harbor Yacht Club and some surrounding gardens. In addition, the property includes bocce ball and picnic areas with space for grilling. Ocean Harbor is within walking distance of area restaurants and bars in the downtown area.
