Lake Timber Neighborhood Center Nearing Completion

It won’t be long before some of the first residents of Lake Timber will be able to enjoy a new neighborhood center. The Lake House neighborhood center is almost complete, aimed at giving residents a sort of central gathering place while also helping to welcome visitors to the exciting new solar powered town of Babcock Ranch.

Once across the community’s entry bridge, the Lake House is first thing visitors encounter. Gaining inspiration from an historic lodge on the neighboring preserve, the newly constructed neighborhood center offers 2,400 square feet of space, including high ceilings, exposed beams and natural materials, complete with stunning views of the nearby lake.

Designed to blend in with the community’s natural setting, the center was constructed with open space in mind, including a kitchenette, game room and a two-sided fireplace, complimented by family room seating. The outside of the neighborhood center includes a large lakefront deck and swimming pool, a barbecue area, playground, bathhouse and a large lawn for neighborhood gatherings.

Sitting right along the lake, the Lake Timber neighborhood is the first in the town, with a blend of cottage, porch and custom-built residences. Designed to compliment the architecture of some of the region’s pre-World War II neighborhoods, the homes of Lake Timber include such styles as Farmhouse, Spanish and Craftsman, with front porches to help encourage neighbors to interact with each other.

Several furnished model homes can currently be viewed within the neighborhood, with some additional models either under construction or opening soon. The 193 home sites will offer lake or park views.

Each home within Babcock Ranch adheres to green building standards too, and the new neighborhood center is energy efficient. Plans call for the entire self-contained community to someday be home to 19,000 residences, plus retail and commercial space in the downtown district of Founder’s Square. Homes within Babcock generally range in price from the high $100,000s to the $500,000s.
