The 2012 house pricing
data released by the Federal Housing Finance Agency reveals that the Cape Coral-Fort Myers metro area had the fifth highest home price appreciation in the nation. According to the data which uses home valuations from both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac mortgages for both new purchases and refinances, our prices appreciated by 6.73% in 2012.
The Fort Myers area with a 2012 appreciation rate of 6.73% only trailed Bismarck, ND (13%), Phoenix, AZ (12%), Boise, ID (8%) and San Jose, CA( 7%). While prices are up, the Fort Myers area still remains one of the more affordable sunbelt metros, particularly one with tropical weather and highly acclaimed beaches.
The Fort Myers area has a wide variety of communities for many lifestyle options including
waterfront,
golfing,
high-rise and
55+ communities. If you have been on the fence about investing in our real estate market, it might be a good time to jump in as prices increases have not slowed so far in 2013.
