Fort Myers Art Walk

artwalk_map The popular arts and cultural event, the Fort Myers Art Walk in the Historic River District, showcases all new local and national art exhibits, live artist demonstrations, live music and a festive atmosphere for shopping and dining throughout the downtown.  The Art Walk kicks off the first Friday of each month from 6-10 PM rain or shine.  Art buyers and folks who enjoy looking at art can meet the local artists during the exhibit openings at most of the downtown galleries and art spaces.  The River District embraces six art galleries and seven retail stores that sell local artwork. The traditional after party happens at 10 PM at Spirits of Bacchus on Hendry Street.  A free shuttle service with stops near the art venues and parking at the Harborside Event Center is available for Art Walk patrons.  A map of Art Walk displaying Art Walk partner locations and parking is distributed by participating galleries.  Visit the website www.fortmyersartwalk.com for information on participating galleries and links to gallery websites. Some past art highlights have included: a popular regular attraction called Art of the Olympians: Olympic cyclists who are also artists Bill Kund and Skip Cutting, and Olympic swimmers Shane Gould (photography) and Alison Wagner (mixed media); photography; painted furniture; digital surrealism art and concert photography; and studio art. Art Walk partners include more than 30 participants, such as the Art League of Fort Myers, Art of the Olympians, Arts for ACT Gallery and Boutique, Charme, Lush Bakery, The Nest Home and Garden, Ocasiocasa Studio Gallery, Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center and UNIT A Contemporary Art Space. The next Art Walk will be held in the River District on Friday December 6th starting at 6:00 pm.
