Crane’s Landing Under Development in North Fort Myers

A new community of single-family homes is headed to North Fort Myers. Crane’s Landing is currently under development, with plans to bring more than 1,000 new homes to the area.

This Lennar Homes community sits on the eastern end of Del Prado Boulevard. The very first model home is under construction right now and could be finished in about three months.

It’s the first of around a dozen homes Lennar plans to build in the near future, with four available floor plans to choose from. The first possible home move-ins could likely come later this summer.

In the meantime, a sales office for the new development recently opened up in the Merchants Crossing shopping center. Prospective buyers can choose from floor plans of around 1,800 to 3,300 square feet of living space.

While some of the smaller floor plans make room for four-bedrooms and two-baths, some of the larger floor plans can accommodate five or six-bedrooms and three-baths. The homes are part of the company’s American Dream Series.

Priced starting in the $200,000s, Crane's Landing homes top out in the mid $300,000s. The lower price point is expected to be part of the appeal.

Originally the land had been earmarked for a new golf course community. Lennar later changed those plans to appeal to the need for more affordable homes.

The lower price point is possible because, unlike some other new home communities in this part of Florida, the development won’t be packed with added amenities. That also means lower HOA fees, which could be a big draw for homeowners trying to stay on budget. Of course, there will be one enticing amenity for homebuyers. Developers are keeping some preserve in the middle of the community to serve as a park area with walking trails. There will also be some fitness stations along the trails.
