The current unemployment rate stands at 5.4%, which is still lower than the national average. The Lee County Economic Development office has an initiative to bolster industries in Lee County, which should further propel projected job growth for the area even higher. Some key industries that Lee County hopes to strengthen are: medical technologies, aviation, information services and the distribution-logistics industries. New residents to Cape Coral enjoy an outstanding quality of life, low cost of living and educational and job opportunities. Cape Coral is Florida’s most populous city between Tampa and Miami. Business leaders brag about the area’s educated workforce and the population of working age adults will continue to grow. Almost 60% of the Cape Coral workforce is employed in white-collar jobs. Top calls Southwest Florida an ideal location for retirement, and places the Cape Coral-Fort Myers metro area at #8 and Naples at #7 among the top cities in 2013.
