Cape Coral Named One of Country’s Fastest Growing Metros

Lured by the promise of pristine sandy beaches, superb golf courses, fishing, boating and a complete Southwest Florida lifestyle, more and more people are being drawn to fabulous Cape Coral. In fact, several recent publications rank the Cape Coral - Fort Myers area as one of the nation’s fastest growing metro areas, and for good reason. The first ranking looks at Census data, placing Cape Coral-Fort Myers in the number one spot, slightly ahead of Austin for 2015. As published by Fusion, the state of Florida has several other notable locations that also make the top ten list, such as Sarasota at number three, Orlando at number four and Lakeland coming in at nine on the list of the fastest-growing metro areas in the United States. It’s also mentioned that Cape Coral topped the list previously from 2004 to 2006. Another ranking, this one compiled by the lawn care concierge startup of LawnStarter, puts Cape Coral-Fort Myers as seventh on the list of the largest U.S. metro areas experiencing on-the-move migration. Orlando came in at number nine on this list. This study took into account homeowners who had moved to the area starting in 2010, plus those who’d moved to the Cape Coral area sometime over the past year, based on U.S. Census Bureau information. In comparison, Forbes Magazine lists Cape Coral at an admirable number ten on its list of America’s Fastest-Growing Cities for 2016. The company notes the area experienced a 2.84% population growth rate for 2015, with a projected population growth rate of 2.15% for 2016. In addition, the metro area received high marks for job growth, low unemployment and median salaries. The Forbes ranking took into account the nation’s 100 most populated areas, then weighed in data regarding each community’s economy and growth based on local and national data.
