A fantastic location to live, work and play, Bonita Springs is also a great place to retire. Money.com recently named Bonita Springs as one of its “8 Best Places to Retire in America”.

The website used some of the same data for its 2019 retirement list as it used to come up with its previous list of the “Best Places to Live in America”. This included such categories as the cost of living, safety, health care and diversity.

Analysts also took into consideration local amenities, the quality of life, a city’s economic health and the percentage of a city’s population that’s older than 50. As for Bonita Springs, about 57-percent of the city’s more than 54,000 residents are at least 50 years old.

The website also pointed to the city’s median home price of around $333,000. Of course, there’s plenty for those of all ages to do and experience in Bonita Springs.

Situated on Florida’s southwest coast, Bonita Springs is home to plenty of outdoor recreation, especially in such locations as Lovers Key State Park. A popular place for kayaking and walking, Lovers Key also offers a two-mile long beach.

Apart from the beach, there’s also the option of enjoying one of city’s many festivals, local concerts or a downtown farmers market. In addition, the city hosts the upcoming Southwest Florida Wine & Food Fest each year, helping to raise money for local charity.

For more fun, Bonita Springs sits merely a short drive away from nearby Naples, which just so happens to be a popular destination for retirees itself. It’s likely the enjoyment of a smaller community and the proximity to a larger city that’s part of the appeal for retirees.

Other cities to make the list across the nation included locations in Arizona, California, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Texas and New York.
